Eight week

On Monday I went to my afternoon communication class. In that communication class we were in an explanation about etiquette when eating, how to order food, sit down, cutlery to use, etc. After that explanation we saw some that the teacher told us to see in advance which I watched responsibly as the good student that I am lol. At the end of the class the teacher left us an activity to do which asked us to table etiquette, utensil usage, a drama presenting a situation in a restaurant, and a review about the restaurant.  On Tuesday I attended my communication class which involved watching a series that our teacher Luisina asked us to watch so that later we could answer a series of questions regarding the series based on practicing our vocabulary and learning new words and expressions. Lately that  class, I went to the Smartfit gym. I noticed that my strength has decreased significantly since I haven't worked out in months. On Wednesday night I went to celebrate a friend's birt hd...

Ninth week

This week was not so interesting since most days I did not have classes due to the cultural week that takes place at the university which tries to support different endeavors, dances, activities and concerts. On Thursday and Friday I attended a conference called ICTEFOL which talked about different topics about education. On Friday night I attended the concert with some partners held by the university. I went specifically to see Farid Díaz. It was a good concert despite the fights that occurred.

Relationship between parents and teenagers.

Image
It is an interesting topic when we talk about the relationship that adolescents have with their parents, because it is difficult to talk about that in itself. Most of the time when we talk about the way parents raise their children, we always have to think that each parent raises their children differently than the way we will raise them or the way we were raised. Entering the context in any region or country, we will realize the evolution of the way parents have raised their children has had compared to the way they do it now. But even so, speaking specifically in the Colombian context, we will realize that our parents and grandparents were raised in a totally different way, stricter and more old-fashioned, so to speak, more orthodox and influenced by religions, specifically the Christian religion.  Changing what has been said a little, it could be said that there are many differences between this generation and the previous one, and this is demonstrated in different ways, for ins...

Tenth week

On Monday I did not attend class due to personal problems. On Tuesday in my communication class we had to do an essay regarding a video that apparently we saw the day before. Not attending on Monday did not prevent me from doing an essay on that video called Memory Banda: A Warrior’s Cry Against Child Marriage | TED.  On Wednesday I did not have in-person classes. The only fun thing was going to the Sushi-High restaurant to record the communication video. Still, the sushi was good.

Eleventh week

This week started without stress. On Monday we have classes which sometimes I enjoy because I leave class late and I like to see the dark sky. Tuesday was an entertaining and different day; That day there was a small event at the university which I didn't go to, however, Iker went and took some photos. That same day I had communication class, the teacher brought us all sprinkles ice cream and some cookies. It's a nice detail which I appreciate.  Thursday was spent watching some videos about the largest cities around the world and after that communication class I had my sociology class where we had to explain our painting on canvas. My partner in that activity was Iker and we got a good grade. On Friday I didn't have class, however, in the evening of that same day I attended a small concert by a rock band of some friends. I was there for about two hours, after that a few friends and I went to Plaza la Castellana to see the different costumes, the baddies, and enjoy the atmo...

Twelfth week

There was no class on Monday, so the week started well. On Tuesday I had my midterm communication exam which was a little long, even so, I was able to answer it completely. On Wednesday I didn't have a single class. Thursday was an interesting day. I didn't have Grammar class that day because that class was canceled at the last minute. Lately, I had my communication class which was just an oral quiz about the book "Benetton". I took my oral exam in which the professor and I had a good conversation between gentlemen and my final grade was a 4.0 which is a good grade but it can always be better. Just after finishing that oral exam, the riots began and different "papa bombas" began to sound. The professor invited me and Rosa to have a coffee and eat some bread at "Honesto Pan" which is near the university. On Friday in particular I didn't have classes because we would use it to prepare for the roleplay of the Benetton book. On Saturday night I a...

Fourteenth week

These past few weeks have been a bit of a drag, just grinding through the remaining classes. We had this Thanksgiving event planned for this week, cheese sticks and arepas, you know, good food. I was looking forward to it, thinking it would be this interactive and educational thing with professors and students from different semesters of our degree. Turns out, it was more like a casual meeting where everyone stuck to their own groups. We shared food, and yeah, food is always a good reason to get people together. But there was no real interaction among everyone, no dynamic activities or challenges to break the ice. Still, it was a good break from the usual routine. I enjoyed the food, both what we brought and what others shared. Monteria's sun was scorching, but sitting outdoors, taking in the greenery, and feeling a bit of breeze was a nice change. I just wish there was more to it, you know? More chances to connect with different people in the degree, maybe some cool challenges or ...

IThis week kicked off a bit rough for me – got hit with some disappointing grades in different subjects. I knew I had it coming, consequences and all, but I decided not to let the bad grades mess with my head. Instead, I focused on doing better in the next round of assignments and exams. You know, turning it around. Caught some performances by my classmates on the Benetton book, and I gotta say, they nailed it. The presentations were so well-planned, with a smooth flow between scenes. It's cool seeing that kind of creativity and effort in action. Been keeping busy with various activities, hustling a bit to boost my GPA (grade point average). Got that "last month of school" vibe going on, and I'm determined to finish strong. I figure if I give it my all now, I won't have to stress during the December holidays. Gotta enjoy those without any lingering worries. Switched things up a bit and watched the Colombia vs. Brazil soccer match. It's been a while since I sat...
